

Autumn Term Newsletter Oct.2011.
Dear parent/carer a warm welcome back to Cottingley Preschool Nursery .We hope you all had a great summer. Once again we have lots of information to give you. If you have a question or comment please see a member of staff.
" Our theme for this term is opposites. The children will be learning about opposites through a variety of experiences involving painting gluing, sensory imaginary and physical play.
"Cottingley Preschool Nursery is holding its Annual General Meeting for all committee members and prospective new members on TUESDAY 8th November at 8pm, venue 9 Staybrite Avenue, Cottingley. Preschool cannot operate without a committee. We are looking for new members, we meet once every 6 weeks . For further information please see Mrs Stead/Mrs Booth. Light refreshments available. PLEASE COME ALONG AND SUPPORT US.
"Copies of Birth Certificates need to be seen by Mrs Stead/Mrs Booth when your child begins at Preschool.
"Please put names in lunchboxes along with a healthy lunch (no sweets/chocolate bars) and send your child with a named toothbrush toothpaste and flannel. Please make sure your child doesn t bring NUTS to school or foods containing nuts eg. snack bars, we have children with nut allergies
"Name in coats. Children need warm coats hats scarves gloves to go out for walks and a pair of named wellingtons for playing out.
"If your child is absent from Preschool please contact us on 07940594728 to let us know.
"Please make sure all family members/carers /friends/ collecting children from Preschool are named on the contact list. If there are any changes to the normal routine of child collection these changes need to be brought to the attention of the person in charge . Children will NOT be allowed to leave if any of the following conditions are not met:
" person collecting child is not named on contact list,
" person in charge of Preschool is not aware of change in collection of child arrangements (in an emergency please contact Preschool and let us know about the change)
" the person collecting child is under 16
"Anyone have an interesting hobby /job that you could share with the children? Unusual pets that you would bring in to visit the children? Anyone interested in gardening ? please let Mrs Stead/Mrs Booth know.
"Part of our role at Cottingley Preschool Nursery is working alongside parents particularly at objectives like toilet training. Please inform us when /if your child is going through this stage of development. We all need to work together .Can you please make sure the children are wearing easy to manage clothing as they become frustrated especially if leaving going to the toilet/potty to the last minute.,
"We are collecting Morrisons "Lets Grow" vouchers, there is a collection box in the entrance. Thanks for all kind donations.
"If you change address /phone no. please inform us we need to be able to contact you at all times. We are going to use "Group Texting" as a way of sending information so please make sure we have your mobile phone number and E-mail address.
"Just a reminder about session times. We are not covered by insurance to have the children on the premises before or at the end of a session. If children are not staying for lunch then collection time is 11.45am . The afternoon session begins at 12.45 and ends at 15 15 pm
"Transition. Can you please inform Mrs Stead/ Mrs Booth when your child has been allocated their reception place at primary school (for children starting primary school in September 2011). We will then be able to begin the transition process with their new primary school. This includes inviting the teachers to come along and meet the children at preschool. For the children transferring to Cottingley Village Primary school this process begins after half term Oct 2011. The children visit the school once a month and are invited to join in with activities at school.
"When waiting outside with your child PLEASE remember your child is your responsibility please don t allow them to climb the stone steps up to Church or play with the gates. Thank you.
"Once a month usually on a Thursday morning Gary our local Vicar from the Cornerstone Centre at Cottingley , comes into Preschool to sing and play his guitar along with the children and read them a story. The children all enjoy Gary s visits.
"Two members of staff Mrs Parkinson and Miss Mangham have recently undertaken "Penn Green" training provided through the Preschool Learning Alliance and Bradford council. Can you please return your consent sheet to give permission for your child to be filmed.
"Preschool sweatshirts. Several parents have enquired about purchasing sweatshirts for their children. If you are interested in purchasing sweatshirts please add your name, size and quantity to the list in the foyer or ask Mrs. Stead/ Mrs Booth.
"Winter and the cold/wet weather is approaching , we would like all the children to have a named pair of pumps, to use for physical activities in the bottom room ,when playing outside is not practical. Children need to access lots of physical play every day. Please leave the pumps in a pumpbag on your child s coatpeg.
"Cottingley Preschool Nursery is trying to raise valuable funds through "Peel 2 Save". The cards are available from Mrs Stead/Mrs Booth at a cost of £10. On the card are 64 fabulous local offers giving you over £300 worth of savings and discounts from great local businesses such as Pizza Hut, Cineworld please see poster in foyer or above staff members for more information.
"Preschool is desperately running short of paper for the children to use for their paintings /drawings etc.. Does anyone have any contacts ? Do you have any unwanted rolls of wallpaper? Please see Mrs Stead/Mrs Booth.
